It all started when…
my college professor, Jeanne Fornarola, called me to invite me to teach a masterclass at my alma mater. I asked her, “so what are they craving lately? Some jazz, some hip-hop?…” This led to a conversation about what seniors and juniors at the program and adjacent programs were really craving at that stage. PREPARATION FOR A CAREER!
From my experience in college, it wasn't enough to be technically proficient in the arts. I wanted to know how to make a living! How to support myself in between contracts. Would I ever get a contract? Did I need to know how to sing, or just carry a tune? How do I find auditions? How to comprehend a breakdown? What’s the difference between agents and managers?
Even with the uncertainty, I threw myself into the industry blind and figured it out as I went along. Most of us do, but I knew there had to be a better way.
Hence, Laroche Approach Workshop was born.
