Rejection
Audition grief
Let’s inch our way into the subject of loss. Rejection is a loss. Wanting so badly to be cast in a production that you know the album by heart, you recite every joke, line on cue, and slay the choreography in your bathroom can be quite devastating. There no way you can ask yourself to invest everything you have into your craft, get rejected, and not feel that pain. That loss.
It’s a matter of putting it into perspective. Not moving on, but pushing through. If you ignore it, the effect is similar to quicksand. Once it grabs hold, it will slowly work its way until it’s too late to fight it.
In this chapter, we discuss steps that take the reality of rejection and utilizing it as fuel for conviction into the next audition, as opposed to the void you may be attempting to fill with every audition that follows.
Let’s dig in.
